As Sol Stein, renowned editor, author, and instructor, explains, "This is not a book of theory. It is a book of useable solutions-- how to fix writing that is flawed, how to improve writing that is good, how to create interesting writing in the first place."

About Amanda

Here, magic is complicated, heroes are flawed, and every choice matters.

Amanda Van Lynn (born Amanda Lynn Partenheimer, Marion, Indiana) has been writing since childhood, inspired by early stories and LARPing adventures that shaped her character Ilaina, daughter of Merlin. After a period away from writing, Amanda began The Wizard’s Bible—a dark fantasy saga started in 2025 at the Nelson County Library—that explores themes of magic, faith, and the struggle between light and darkness. Drawing influence from Arthurian legend and modern grimdark fiction, her work focuses on the complexities of power and morality.

“I thought I had an idiol hand. I'm not that cute little girl that used to right fairy-princess type tales.”
